Playing “The Game” at Creamfields
This weekend 4-club.co.uk took “The Game” to Creamfields courtesy of “the T-Shirt”. There are only two rules to The Game:
- If you think about The Game you lose.
- When you lose The Game you have to announce it by stating loudly “I just lost The Game!”

This year’s Creamfields rocked just exactly as you’d expect a big field full of mad-for-it clubbers with 12 venues and more DJs than you could shake a stick at. The organisers seemed to get almost every aspect right from the easy access to the reassuring but not intrusive police presence, from the wide range of music styles to the large areas of grass where you could sit, chill, chat and mingle with the other clubbers.
Unfortunately, the event was once again marred by the large number of locals who were there not to dance but to laugh at, hassle and steal from the genuine clubbers. I don’t wish to knock the genuine Liverpudlian clubbers. I spent loads of time with some sound guys and girls from Liverpool. However, everyone I spoke to had at least part of their night spoilt by the “townies”. They’re fairly easy to spot; generally standing around in the middle of the dance floor they don’t dance. They’ll be taking the piss out of someone in front of them. When they talk to you one of the first 2 questions they ask is “How many Es you done?”. If you’re lucky that’s where it will end. Unhappily, for some it didn’t end there with some being pick pocketed, unwanted aggressive advances being made on women and reports of clubbers being threatened with knives in attempts to steal their valuables. It’s difficult to see how the organisers could stop these unwanted guests from attending but for many that I have spoken to they are a major turn-off for what would otherwise be possibly the premier event on the clubbing calendar.
4-club.co.uk’s visit to Creamfields was sponsored by Fidget Dance Music Recording Studio and Fidget Records.

I don’t disagree with you that every areas has its fair share of people who will look to take advantage of an event like this. I’ve spoken to people who went to other festivals this year and each festival has similar problems. However, the problem seems worse at Creamfields. I don’t know why. Maybe its due to the proximity of the festival to a major city centre making it easier for undesirables to come over after having spent the night out on the town.
At Creamfields the criminal element is likely to be Liverpudlian. Not because Liverpudlians are all criminals, I wasn’t saying that at all. Simply because the festival is in Liverpool. I’m sure what criminal element there was at Global Gathering etc. were all local to that festival. If you’re crashing a festival just to hassle clubbers you’re unlikely to travel half way across the country to do so.
I can only say what I saw. Everyone on the 2 coaches that I travelled up & back in had been hassled by yobs during the evening. When I and some friends been organising a group to travel up several people stated that they didn’t wish to go because when they’d been on a previous occasion they’d had part of their night ruined by yobs.
